Seedance 2.5 is the model to look at when one long, consistent take matters more than price. It generates up to 30 seconds in one pass from up to 50 references, and in Dreamina it costs 37 credits per second at 720p, which works out to about $3.52 for a 10-second clip on the $15 Basic plan (Dreamina price page, October 22, 2026).
What is Seedance, and where can you use it?
Seedance is ByteDance's video generation model family. ByteDance launched Seedance 2.5 worldwide on July 31, 2026, first in Dreamina, its standalone AI creation app, per the launch press release of August 3. The model also runs inside CapCut, where Video Studio lists Seedance 2.5, and on the BytePlus ModelArk API for developers outside the United States.
Seedance 2.0 stays available next to 2.5 in three speed tiers (Pro, Fast and Mini), and those cheaper tiers are what most of Dreamina's plan marketing is built on.
What does Seedance 2.5 do that 2.0 didn't?
Seedance 2.5 removes most of the stitching. Seedance 2.0 topped out at 15 seconds per generation; 2.5 doubles that to 30 seconds of continuous video, and Dreamina's Long Video Mode extends work to three minutes, per ByteDance's launch release.
References are the bigger change. One generation can take up to 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio files, against 12 references before. Reference video and reference audio are each capped at 30 seconds in total, per the BytePlus specs summarized by LLM Stats (August 2026).
Intelligent Edit Mode is the third addition. You pick a timestamp, mark an area and give an instruction or reference image, and Seedance changes that part instead of regenerating the whole clip. ByteDance's release also lists green-screen output, 3D white-model control and Blender or Maya assets as inputs.
ByteDance itself notes room to improve in physically plausible complex motion and in stability when many subjects interact, per the same LLM Stats summary.
How much does a Seedance 2.5 clip really cost?
Seedance 2.5 costs 37 credits per second at 720p in Dreamina, and the plans sell credits at slightly different rates.
| Dreamina plan | Price after first month | Credits / month | Seedance 2.5 at 720p per second | 10-second 720p clip | Seconds of 2.5 a month |
|---|
| Basic | $15.00 ($0.29 first month, US) | 1,575 | $0.35 | $3.52 | 42 |
| Standard | $36.00 ($21.60 first month) | 3,885 | $0.34 | $3.43 | 105 |
| Advanced | $159.00 ($95.40 first month) | 17,600 | $0.33 | $3.34 | 475 |
| Ultra | $520.00 ($312.00 first month) | 59,000 | $0.33 | $3.26 | 1,594 |
Monthly prices and the 37-credit 720p rate from Dreamina's Seedance price page, checked October 22, 2026. Per-second and per-clip costs are our arithmetic. Retries are extra.
Two things in that table aren't on Dreamina's page. First, Basic is advertised as 19 ten-second videos a month. At 1,575 credits that's about 83 credits a clip, which matches Seedance 2.0 Fast at 8 credits a second. At Seedance 2.5 rates the same plan buys four 10-second clips. Second, 1080p costs far more: Higgsfield's October 20 guide lists an 8-second 1080p Seedance 2.5 clip at 728 Dreamina credits, about 91 a second. Dreamina's own page warns not to apply the 720p rate to higher resolutions.
The launch press release quotes "from $0.097 per second" for Seedance 2.5. That price applies to qualifying annual memberships under a launch offer, not to the monthly plans above.

Can you buy Seedance credits without a subscription?
Yes. Dreamina sells credit packs on top of any plan, and in euros they work out cheaper per credit than the Basic subscription. In Dreamina's Buy credits window on October 22, 2026, the smallest pack was 1,170 credits for €8.99, valid for two years, which puts a 10-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p at about €2.84. "Power credits" packs from 33,050 credits for €224.78, sold from October 14 to November 3, cost about €0.0068 a credit but expire after three months.
| Dreamina credit pack (October 2026) | Price | Valid for | 10-second Seedance 2.5 clips at 720p |
|---|
| 1,170 credits | €8.99 | 2 years | 3 |
| 5,320 credits | €40.46 | 2 years | 14 |
| 22,790 credits | €161.84 | 2 years | 61 |
| 33,050 credits (Power, until Nov 3) | €224.78 | 3 months | 89 |

Seedance 2.0 Pro, Fast or Mini instead?
For drafts and social clips, Seedance 2.0 is the cheaper call. Dreamina's 720p rates per second in October 2026:
| Model | Credits per second (720p) | 10-second clip | Clips on Basic (1,575 credits) |
|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | 37 | 370 | 4 |
| Seedance 2.0 Pro | 17 | 170 | 9 |
| Seedance 2.0 Fast | 8 | 80 | 19 |
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | 5 | 50 | 31 |
Credit rates from Dreamina's Seedance price page, October 22, 2026.
These rates are discounted, and the discount isn't permanent. On October 22, 2026, Dreamina's generator listed a 5-second 720p Seedance 2.0 Mini clip at 60 credits, cut by 58% to 25, which matches the 5-credits-a-second rate above. Dreamina also notes that Seedance 2.0 and Fast charge for the length of input video as well as the generated clip, so a video reference adds to the bill. If the promotion ends, the same clip costs more than twice as much.
A workable pattern is to block a shot on Seedance 2.0 Fast, then spend Seedance 2.5 credits only on the final take that needs 30 continuous seconds or a stack of references.
Seedance 2.5 or Kling 4.0?
Both models generate 30-second single takes as of October 2026, and no standardized benchmark compares them yet. The choice comes down to inputs and price.
Choose Seedance 2.5 when a shot depends on many references: 50 inputs against Kling 4.0's 15, including up to 10 audio files for music and dialogue. Choose Kling when you want keyframe control (up to 10) and a lower cost per second. At 720p, Kling 4.0 costs 10 credits a second (60 credits for 6 seconds in Kling's app, October 2026), about $0.13 a second on Kling's $8.80 Standard plan, against $0.35 for Seedance 2.5 at 720p on Dreamina Basic.
For cheaper short-form clips, PixVerse and Hailuo stay in the $10 bracket, and our best AI video generators list ranks the wider field.
Who should skip Seedance 2.5?
Skip Seedance 2.5 if you make a lot of short clips on a small budget. At $3.52 per 10-second 720p clip on Basic, it costs several times what the $10 plans of Kling, PixVerse or Vidu charge for comparable short clips, and Seedance 2.0 Fast in the same Dreamina account does drafts for about a fifth of the credits.
US developers should skip the API route for now, since BytePlus doesn't offer ModelArk's Seedance 2.5 in the United States, and its API output stops at 720p.
How we researched this Seedance review
This review is desk research; nobody at AIVario has generated a Seedance 2.5 clip for it. Plan prices and credit rates come from Dreamina's Seedance price page (October 22, 2026), features from ByteDance's launch press release (August 3, 2026), API details from BytePlus documentation as summarized by LLM Stats (August 11, 2026), and 1080p and free-credit figures from Higgsfield's pricing guide (October 20, 2026). Where those sources disagree, Dreamina's own page wins. Research can't tell you how stable 30-second takes are on your prompts or how often generations fail.
Note: Seedance does not currently have an affiliate program with AIVario. We earn no commission, and this rating carries no commercial incentive.
- Kling: Kling 4.0 also makes 30-second clips, with 10 keyframes
- CapCut: ByteDance's editor, with Seedance in Video Studio and AI effects
- Hailuo AI: realistic faces in short clips, no charge for failed generations
- PixVerse: cheaper daily-refill credits for volume social video
Frequently Asked Questions about Seedance
How many Seedance 2.5 clips does Dreamina's Basic plan buy?
About four 10-second clips at 720p. Basic gives 1,575 credits a month and Seedance 2.5 costs 37 credits a second at 720p, per Dreamina's price page in October 2026, so a 10-second clip takes 370 credits. The page's figure of 19 videos a month matches Seedance 2.0 Fast at 8 credits a second, not 2.5.
Why is Dreamina's first month only $0.29?
It's a launch promotion on the Basic monthly plan for US buyers paying by card or PayPal, shown as 98% off in October 2026. Renewal is $15 a month. Users who took the earlier 90%-off offer (September 23 to October 9, 2026, first month $1.50) can't redeem this one, per Dreamina's terms.
Is Seedance 2.5 the same thing in CapCut and Dreamina?
The model is the same family, but the products differ. Dreamina is ByteDance's dedicated generator with the published per-second credit rates; CapCut offers Seedance inside Video Studio and AI effects, priced in CapCut's own credits. In October 2026 a CapCut AI effect on Seedance 2.0 cost 35 credits a run, per our CapCut review.
Can developers in the US use the Seedance 2.5 API?
Not through BytePlus. ModelArk lists Seedance 2.5 under the model ID dreamina-seedance-2-5-260628 from about August 7, 2026, but BytePlus says it isn't available in the United States. Its API output is 480p or 720p, and a 5-second 720p clip without video input costs about $1.16 at the published token rates.
Is Seedance 2.5 better than Kling 4.0?
Neither wins outright, and no standardized benchmark compares them as of October 2026. Both make 30-second single takes. Seedance takes far more references (50 against Kling's 15); Kling 4.0 adds 10 keyframes and costs less: about $0.13 a second at 720p on Kling's Standard plan, against about $0.35 for Seedance 2.5 at 720p on Dreamina Basic.
Does Dreamina have a free plan for Seedance?
Dreamina says it may offer free trial credits to eligible users without a credit card, and the amount varies. Higgsfield's October 20, 2026 price guide reports 120 credits a day, which is about three seconds of Seedance 2.5 at 720p. Treat it as a look at the interface, not a way to finish a project.
