Wondercraft made its name with one clever product: paste an article or document, and it produced a podcast with realistic AI hosts talking it through. That generator is still part of the product, alongside text to speech, voice cloning and a meditation tool. But the company now introduces itself differently: AI video for real work, an AI video studio that brings the latest models for video, avatars, images, voice and sound into guided workflows.
The engine of the new product is Wonda, an AI agent that plans a video, writes it, generates narration, visuals, music and effects, and assembles everything on a timeline you can edit. Wondercraft pitches it at business video: training and learning teams, internal communications and marketing. The homepage features investor Steven Bartlett and customers such as Spotify's creative lab and the World Bank, which uses Wondercraft to turn policy documents into podcasts in ten languages.

The spread matters, because narration is cheap: 100 minutes a month on Creator covers a weekly podcast and several explainers. Generated video and avatars are expensive: two minutes of avatar video uses Creator's whole month. Wondercraft's own advice is to keep B-roll clips to four or five seconds, test one clip before batch generating and reuse assets from your library.
Two policies soften the cost: unused credits roll over for paid subscribers, and failed generations are not charged.
Talking to Wonda also costs credits, in proportion to the work. A greeting costs almost nothing; asking for a 20-minute video with detailed instructions costs far more, and so do tasks where Wonda inspects your project or rearranges the timeline. You can choose the model behind it: Claude for complex video creation, the most expensive; GPT for routine tasks; and MiniMax, the cheapest, for simple ones. Picking the lighter model for small edits is an easy saving.
Wondercraft does best, and most cheaply, what made it known: turning a report, a policy or a blog post into a podcast or narrated video, in several languages and with cloned voices. Video, avatars, images, music, sound and voices sit in one studio with one credit balance, organized into workflows rather than a raw model menu, and commercial rights from Creator, team collaboration on Pro and Enterprise terms that include indemnity on generated output answer what corporate buyers ask about.
Generated video eats credits quickly, and per-second rates vary by model, so budgeting video-heavy projects takes testing. The free plan's 150 credits and 720p exports are for evaluation only. And the product's shift from audio to video means some of the best-known workflows are still the audio ones.
Synthesia and HeyGen are the specialists for presenter-led avatar video; Wondercraft is broader and cheaper to start with. ElevenLabs is the reference for voices and has its own studio for audio projects. For stock-footage videos built from scripts, Pictory is a lower-cost alternative, and Async, formerly Podcastle, covers podcast recording plus AI editing.
Learning and development teams, internal communications and content marketers who regularly turn written material into narrated videos and podcasts are the natural users. Creator billed yearly is enough for one person producing narration-led content, and Pro fits small teams and anyone generating video and avatars in volume. If your videos are mostly generated footage, compare per-second costs with the model makers first.
