Writesonic used to be the cheap AI writer, about $19 a month for blog posts on demand. That product no longer exists. Writesonic now calls itself an AI search growth engine, and its plans start at $79.
The idea behind the change is easy to follow. People increasingly ask ChatGPT or Google's AI which product to buy, and a brand that never appears in those answers loses customers it can't see. Writesonic measures how often you show up. When you don't, it helps you fix that with articles, site audits and suggestions for where to get cited. The writer is still there, but it's now a tool for acting on the data.

Every plan tracks your brand in AI answers. The plans differ in volume and in what happens after the tracking. Starter's 50 prompts are enough to watch one product category. Growth's 200 suit a brand with several products or a long list of competitor comparisons.
The real dividing line is the platform list. Below Enterprise, Writesonic watches only ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Google AI Mode are Enterprise-only. A B2B company whose buyers research in Perplexity will feel that gap quickly.
Basic and Growth can add users at $50 a month each, up to five in total, and an add-on of 20 more articles costs $100 a month.
You give Writesonic a list of prompts, the questions your buyers might type into an AI assistant. It runs them every day and records whether your brand appears, which competitors appear instead and, on Growth, how the answers describe you. Each self-serve plan covers one market, meaning one combination of language and country. Ads monitoring watches sponsored placements in ChatGPT and Google's AI results.
Read the numbers as trends. AI assistants don't give identical answers to the same question twice, so a single day's result can swing for no particular reason. What matters is the direction over weeks: whether you appear more often, and which competitors keep taking your place.
Writesonic's own pitch is that diagnosis is only step one. The Action Center ranks fixes by their likely effect on visibility and citations, covering missing prompts, citation gaps, content changes and technical issues. It's also the most restricted feature. Growth gets a trial with five on-page and five off-page actions a month, and only Enterprise gets the full version.
The rest of the toolkit is available more widely. The article writer works from your brand voice, with one writing style on Starter, five on Basic and ten on Growth. Site audits look for problems that stop AI crawlers and search engines from reading your pages, and Writesonic lists automatic AI fixes among the audit features. Agentic workflows, which automate SEO and content tasks, come only as trial runs below Enterprise: 10, 50 or 100 of them. Writesonic connects to Google Search Console, WordPress and GA4, and it lists an API and an MCP server for developers.
In practice, the self-serve plans are mostly for measuring. The part that turns findings into a steady queue of work sits at the top of the price list.
The 7-day trial needs no credit card. If you pay and change your mind, Writesonic promises a no-questions refund within seven days. Upgrades apply immediately, while downgrades and cancellations take effect at the next billing cycle.
The free tools section is small and useful: an llms.txt generator and an AI crawl checker that shows what AI crawlers can read on a page, with no login or email gate. The AI humanizer and other free writing tools that people still search for aren't listed there anymore.

Semrush costs more but bundles AI tracking with the keyword and backlink data an SEO team already uses. Ahrefs sells its AI tracking, Brand Radar, as a separate add-on. Writesonic sits between them, with more content tooling than Frase and less classic SEO data than Semrush.
Who should skip it is clear enough. A blogger who wants articles gets more from ChatGPT or Claude at $20 a month, or from a budget writer such as Rytr. Writesonic earns its price for marketing teams that already treat AI answers as a channel and want the measurement and the content tools on one bill.
