Our Testing

In our use of Perplexity for daily research and fact-checking work, three characteristics consistently stand out.

Citation accuracy and presentation are the main reason Perplexity remains our default research tool. In side-by-side comparisons with ChatGPT Deep Research on 20 factual queries, Perplexity's citations pointed to the actually-relevant source in 18 of 20 cases; ChatGPT's source suggestions were accurate in 14 of 20.
