Zoom stopped using the AI Companion name on June 1, 2026. The features people relied on, such as meeting summaries and email drafting, didn't go anywhere. They're now just Zoom AI features, and they still come with paid Zoom Workplace plans at no extra cost.
The new part is ZoomMate. It's a paid AI teammate meant to finish the work a meeting starts, and it runs on a monthly allowance of AI credits.
Workplace Pro costs $14.16 per user a month billed yearly, in US dollars, and its AI allowance is generous. Meeting summaries and questions during a meeting are unlimited. So is note-taking with My Notes, which works in Zoom, in other meeting apps and in person. Pro also includes basic AI queries, agentic search, workflows inside Zoom and unlimited AI writing in Canvas, Zoom's document editor.
The free Basic plan gets a taste. Summaries and in-meeting questions cover three hosted meetings a month, My Notes allows three uses and you get 20 AI queries. Meetings on Basic still end after 40 minutes, which limits how much there is to summarize.

Zoom showed euros by default on October 7, 2026, with ZoomMate at €15.33 a month billed yearly. In US dollars the same plan costs $16.67 billed yearly, or $20 monthly.
ZoomMate is built to act, not just summarize. It can structure an agenda before a meeting and gather prep material from earlier conversations. Afterwards it drafts follow-up emails and slide decks, and it can update Salesforce. Zoom calls these agentic capabilities.
There's more under the hood. A custom agent builder connects to third-party apps and draws on a knowledge bank you set up. Pre-built agents are ready for departments such as sales and finance. Search reaches the web and connected data sources, with a deep research mode. ZoomMate also brings the AI Productivity Suite of Slides, Sheets, Paper and Canvas, plus a voice translator for live audio in meetings.

The pricing page doesn't say how many credits a slide deck or a research report uses. Watch the meter in the first month before rolling ZoomMate out to everyone.
The old complaint about Zoom's AI was that it only saw Zoom calls. My Notes changes that, since Pro now covers third-party meetings and in-person conversations too. A team that meets in Zoom but sometimes joins a client's Microsoft Teams call can stay with one note-taker.
Teams built around Microsoft 365 will find Microsoft Copilot closer to home, and Google Workspace users can turn to Gemini, which Google has built into Meet. For notes that ignore the platform entirely, Fireflies and Granola work everywhere, and Krisp adds noise cancellation without a bot.
If you already pay for Workplace Pro, use the included features for a month before buying ZoomMate. At about $200 per user a year, it pays off only for people who want their decks and follow-ups written for them.
