Fathom joins your Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call, records it, transcribes it and sends a summary with decisions and action items shortly after the meeting ends. Its homepage pitch is "AI notetaking that is out of this world", and it claims use at more than 300,000 companies, a 5.0 rating on G2 from over 6,500 reviews, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA compliance, and SSO and SCIM for larger customers.
In September 2026 it changed owners. Superhuman, the company formerly called Grammarly, which also owns the Superhuman email app and Coda, announced on September 14 that it had acquired Fathom, without disclosing terms. Fathom had more than 400,000 monthly active users, and Superhuman said it plans to bring Fathom's notetaking into its apps and agents across email, calendar, documents and databases. A banner across Fathom's homepage now reads "Fathom is now part of Superhuman".
When we checked on September 30, the pricing page listed the free plan and the paid plans covered below, and Superhuman had not announced any changes to them. The long-term question is how closely Fathom will be tied to Superhuman's suite, which matters more to teams that do not use Superhuman's other products.
Fathom's free plan is the reason many people start with it. It includes unlimited recordings and transcriptions, instant AI summaries of every call, clips, playlists of highlights and search across your meetings, and Fathom describes it as free forever. You can choose between the meeting bot and, on Mac, bot-free capture.
What it holds back are the deeper AI features. Paid plans add advanced summaries, AI-generated action items and follow-up emails, and Ask Fathom across your full meeting history; reviews report that free users get advanced summaries on their first five calls each month, after which Fathom falls back to its standard summary. For someone who mostly wants a record and a quick recap of every call, that is enough. For someone who relies on detailed summaries and follow-ups every day, Premium is the realistic plan.

Every paid plan carries a 90-day guarantee. The pricing makes Team cheaper per person than Premium when two or more colleagues sign up together, which is why individuals often end up on a team plan with a coworker. Nonprofits can apply for 10 free seats, startups backed by participating investors can get up to two years of Team free, and companies leaving Gong can get Business free for the rest of their Gong contract.
Bots in the participant list are the most common complaint about AI notetakers, and Fathom now offers a way around them. On Mac, you can choose bot-free capture, still in beta in September 2026, which records from your computer instead of sending a bot into the meeting. Windows users and anyone who prefers the bot can keep using it, and paid plans let you customize the bot, with an option on higher tiers to turn off the in-meeting banner.
A bot-free recording is still a recording. Consent rules differ by country and state, and participants from other companies may object to being recorded by a third-party service, so tell people when Fathom is on. Enterprise adds custom data retention policies and organization-wide security controls for companies with stricter requirements.
Fathom's Business plan is aimed at sales teams. After each call it can update fields in HubSpot or Salesforce automatically, Deal View pulls insights from all the calls on an opportunity into one place, and coaching metrics and AI scorecards help managers review reps without listening to every recording. Keyword and AI search alerts can flag calls that mention a competitor or a pricing objection.
At $25 per user a month billed yearly, Business costs a fraction of dedicated revenue intelligence platforms, which is the argument Fathom makes to teams switching from Gong. Large sales organizations with complex forecasting needs may still prefer those platforms; small and mid-sized teams often find Fathom covers what they use.
Fathom also plugs into the AI tools people already use. It added integrations with Claude and ChatGPT, offers a public API and an MCP server, and connects to Slack, Zapier, Make and Asana.
Fireflies is the strongest alternative for a searchable team archive, with transcription in 100+ languages, Pro at $10 per seat a month billed yearly and conversation intelligence on Business. Otter.ai focuses on live transcripts, though its free plan caps meetings at 30 minutes. Granola takes the bot-free approach further, capturing audio on your device and enhancing your own notes, from $14 per user a month. Gong remains the enterprise choice for revenue intelligence, sold by quote.
