Softr began as the easiest way to put a website in front of an Airtable base. It's grown into something broader: a builder for the software a business runs on, such as client portals, CRMs, inventory trackers and intranets. Softr now has its own database and workflow automation, and an AI co-builder that drafts a whole app from a description.
The part that hasn't changed is the focus on permissions. Softr is built for apps where outside people log in and must see only their own data. Clients checking project status and vendors filling out onboarding forms are typical examples, and the pricing follows that idea.

Enterprise adds single sign-on through SAML or OpenID, SCIM, audit logs and custom agreements. Extra custom domains cost $15 a month, or $13 on yearly billing.
App users are the people who log in to apps you've built, and they decide which plan you need. Softr splits them in two. Team users share a business email domain with someone who builds in your workspace. Everyone else is a client user, including anyone who signs in with Gmail or another free address.
That split makes internal tools cheap and client portals the real cost driver. A portal for 80 customers needs Business, which includes 100 client users, or Pro plus extra users. Pro and Business both sell additional app users, starting at $1 and $2 a month respectively. Softr counts each email once across all your apps, and deactivated users don't count.
Builders are separate. They're the people who build in Softr Studio, and they can be app users at no extra cost.
Softr's AI drafts an app from a prompt, including the interface, the database tables and the workflows that connect them. You then refine it by prompting again or by editing visually. Permissions stay under your control in the editor.
The allowances look small, from 5 credits on Free to 100 on Business. Plan credits reset monthly, and add-on credits roll over for one extra month. The useful detail is what happens at zero. Softr's visual editor keeps working without AI, while builders that rely entirely on prompts stop when the credits do.
Softr also lets you run AI agents inside databases and workflows, using models from ChatGPT maker OpenAI and Anthropic's Claude. A typical use is classifying incoming requests or summarizing records as they arrive.
Many teams first meet Softr through Airtable, and it still connects to Airtable bases directly. Since Softr added its own database, it also pitches itself as a replacement, and its homepage now advertises a migration path from Airtable.
Keep Airtable if your team already lives in it for planning and reporting, and use Softr as the secure front end for people outside. Moving to Softr's database makes sense when Airtable's per-seat pricing grows faster than the app does. Softr also connects to Google Sheets, Notion, HubSpot, Supabase, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Its workflows can replace simple Zapier or Make automations.
